Since my new job allows me to cover Auburn athletics without a bunch of busywork piled on, I'm able to finish my work and live my life. It's wondrous. So now I don't have to miss my daughter's soccer matches because of a high-school game or call-ins or similar time-wasting enterprises that appeal to no more than 10 human beings.
Anyway, the Capital City Streaks 02 Girls went 1-2 at the Vestavia tournament last weekend. Lost a heartbreaker to Vestavia, throttled Hoover, took a beatdown from North Atlanta SA.
I'm happy to report that my daughter wasn't carded. That's good.
Just a friendly reminder about my new professional life: I drive to AUBURN, I enjoy SPORTS and I work for a dot.COM.
Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.
If you keep grinding, better opportunities will come your way. Look at me!
Second.
ReplyDeleteAre you implying that your daughter likes to play with a mean streak?
ReplyDeleteAs to the physical location of your job: Do you work mostly from the sports complex? Or do you tippity tappity type from a coffee shop, or you home or something? Just curious.
I spend most of my time in the Auburn complex. I also write at home maybe 30% of the time. Add in the stadia and those three venues account for 98% of everything I write.
ReplyDeleteI like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you.
'Sup Homies?
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the last bit of this thread post, I can't help but to start humming "On the Sunny Side of the Street".
ReplyDeleteHey y'all.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up yo
ReplyDeleteMorning...
ReplyDeleteHola.
ReplyDeleteThis is the happiest freakin blog I have ever set eyes on. Keep up the happy work Jay G!
ReplyDeleteI <3 the Jan Terri avatar.
ReplyDeleteJayGT, will you have your same press box seat for the games?
THT, I will be in the press box, but I'mm probably be shifted down toward the north end zone. Sad because I've grown so accustomed to sitting by Tommy Elliott and David Storey and Dennis Wilson. They're the stats guys who sit behind me. Tex Williams was up there, too, until he died in 2010 or so. Great guys. Love all of them.
ReplyDeletehappy to report she wasn't carded? what kind of sissy stuff are you teaching her? sportsmanship? integrity? psssh. winners don't have time for such nonsense.
ReplyDeletelooks like i'll have to bust out the old instructions for posting links on bloooooger if i'm to post any music for jgt.
ReplyDeleteSecond
ReplyDeleteThe new Avett Brothers album is crazy awesome, and on NPR's first listen. Through My Prayers hit me pretty close to home in a way that is impossible to react to. I dig it. http://www.npr.org/2012/08/29/160188286/first-listen-the-avett-brothers-the-carpenter
ReplyDeleteNice, been waiting for this to drop.
DeletePunks. I posted that on 2.0 yesterday.
DeleteAlso, check this: http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2012/06/28/155924320/dad-builds-a-recording-studio-sons-make-a-lost-classic
You can listen the whole album on spotify (I imagine elsewhere as well). It's actually pretty good.
..and I posted it on whatever this is yesterday. No one with morals reads 2.0 anymore.
DeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY, CINCY!
ReplyDeleteMorning. I got nothin.
ReplyDeleteMorning. I got nothing either.
ReplyDeleteI had a blast last night. Wifey dropped a "magna carta" reference, she mouthed off at an authority figure (despite my insistence that she not do it, which is a notable juxtaposition) and I knocked down some Sweetwater420.
ReplyDeleteOf note: they were out of PBR.
ReplyDeleteMorning, have nothing either. Had a bowl of Cheerios earlier. They were, uh, passable.
ReplyDeleteDo you make a habit of eating food that you can't pass?
ReplyDeleteWell, I had a couple of frosty beverages last night myself but they weren't Sweetwater or PBR. I didn't mouth off to any authority figures. Well check that. It may depend on your perspective there I suppose. From GMB's perspective anything I say other than "Yes Dear" or the like is probably considered mouthing off.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a little more than that to get spanked in my home, Norm, but that's typically not a bad thing. I like getting under Wifey's skin.
ReplyDeletethat's what she said!
DeleteIt's more like: That's what she does.
Deleteso, what high school game you got tonight, Jay G?
ReplyDeleteOh, wait, that's just someplace you used to work.
I'll be watching my Catholic Knights with my peeps. NO WORRIES AT ALL. Love it. Yay!
DeleteThe Jimmy Perry Era opened in a big way -- STJ 45, tMA 14.
DeleteHey JayG
ReplyDeleteWhat's it like with the hacks now? Is there like an inherent ragmen vs. payforsite gang war, or has nothing changed?
Well, Joel Erickson threw boiling-hot water in my face during his first day at al.com, which seemed a bit much. So I tripped Goldberg as retaliation. He slammed his head into a rock wall. Now he's concussed. I thought PMarsh would have my back now that I'm a web guy, but he actually laughed at me when Erickson did what he did.
DeleteSo I keyed PMarsh's car and fed a devious concoction to his prized tabby cat. Said cat now is sprouting a second head and poops all over the floor. LOL I always get the last laugh.
I heard that Jay G punched Goldberg in the throat last weekend. The Al.com bloc is getting powerful, and the paysite guys had to put them in their place.
ReplyDeleteThere were horses and a man on fire -- and I killed a guy with a trident.
DeleteYou should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.
DeleteThanks for the info, MJT. I've heard things have been heating up since the fall practice got started. The prime videoing spots for interviews at the complex can cost you life and limb.
ReplyDeleteI also heard that Dyer bought his piece off Hoke. I've got a cousin that lives in an apartment that was next to Dyer's. Swears that's who he got it from.
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Dyer pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
DeleteNew thread UP.
ReplyDeleteForty Fourth!!!
